Free Response Questions (FRQ)

  • My Max Score Practice Test:  This AP Government practice test is just like the real thing, with 60 multiple choice questions and 4 free response questions. The explanations are extremely thorough.
  • College Board / AP Central resource:  All of the AP U.S. Government free response questions that were given from 1999 to 2015. Includes sample responses, scoring guidelines and statistics.

Multiple Choice Questions

  • ACE Practice Tests:  This is the ACE practice test site for the 9th edition of American Government by Wilson and Dilulio. An interactive test for each of the 22 chapters. You can also get a complete outline of each chapter by clicking on “study outline”.
  • U.S. Government Quiz: This site has lots of great review quizzes. Quizes are geared towards supreme court cases, constitutional amendments, and government vocabulary terms.
  • AP Government MC Practice Test:  15 multiple choice question practice test.  Scoring is provided along with explanations for each answer
  • McGraw Hill Practice quiz:  Interactive test with 25 MC questions.

Section I (50% of grade)
45 minutes
60 Multiple-choice questions covering the following topics:

Constitutional Underpinnings of United States Government (5%–15%)
Political Beliefs and Behaviors (10%–20%)
Political Parties, Interest Groups, and Mass Media (10%–20%)
Institutions of National Government: The Congress, the Presidency, the Bureaucracy, and the Federal Courts (35%–45%)
Public Policy (5%–15%)
Civil Rights and Civil Liberties (5%–15%)

Section II (50% of grade)
100 minutes 
4 Essay questions
