Why Andrea loves teaching:
Why I'm excited about physics:
I fell in love with physics almost as soon as I started learning it, thanks to my wonderful high school physics teacher. Over my past four years as a physics student, I've only grown to appreciate more how powerful and beautiful this discipline is: physics gives us the capacity to find laws and patterns that govern the natural universe, to understand how interactions on a minute scale can be harnessed for our everyday lives, and to bring complex and occasionally obscure math to life as we apply it to the real world. It also allows us to ask questions about black holes, time travel, multiple universes, teleportation, and more - the stuff of science fiction novels, brought into reality!

Why I'm excited about Biology:
I often hear students complain about biology being too "memorization heavy", and not conceptual enough. With proper understanding, the opposite can be true! At its core, I think learning biology means breaking the details down to elegant fundamental principles like natural selection that help us build an understanding of what governs the living world - and give us the power to push the forward frontiers of life science and medicine in the future!

What I like about tutoring:
I've been through the AP process and know it can be both challenging and stressful at times. However, it can also be kind of fun to have the chance to apply the new and exciting concepts you've learned to challenging college-level problems. I enjoy tutoring because I can help my students to build a scaffold of core principles and concepts that they can then apply to homework problems, tests, and AP exams, making the process less about stressful memorization and more about exciting "eureka!" moments.

An interesting fact about Andrea:
Two truths and a lie: I once ate 14 pancakes in one sitting, my guilty pleasure is The Bachelor(ette), and I work part-time building a neutrino detector prototype.
