Why mentor with me?

I will share my knowledge on:
  • I will share my success tips in how to strike a balance between high school academics demands and extracurricular commitments while focusing and devoting to one’s passion.
  • I will share the insights on the psychology on self control and academic achievement learned from directly working with Angela Duckworth on her research.  Ms. Duckworth is a distinguished Professor of Psychology at U Penn and the Founder and CEO of Character Club.  She is also New York Times’ best selling author of Grit:  The Power of Passion and Perseverance, as well as the speaker of a popular TED talk.
  • I am passionate about teaching and am awarded a unique opportunity by U Penn to teach full time next year in a middle school in New York City.

Why Jay loves teaching:
I want to tutor these subjects since they were the IB subjects that I got 7s in, and they are subjects that I'm passionate about.
In summers 2014-2016, I had a transformative, life-changing experience and, in fact, the most meaningful summers in my entire life at Summerbridge, an 8-week program in which I taught economics, planned events, and worked with local underprivileged students in Hong Kong from 13 to 15 years old. Despite that before the program I had already been convinced that I wanted to become a teacher, I was inspired even further this summer.

An interesting fact about Jay:
I went to the Beijing 2008 Olympics and saw Michael Phelps compete live!
